Head of Live Events, Stage Electrics
Mike started in the event industry in 1985 as a client as an Event Manager with The Boots Company before jumping over to the agency side joining Spectrum Communications as an Account Director in 1990. After a thorough training on a huge variety of shows, Mike setup his own agency, Ultimate Events, with two colleagues in 1995. Ultimate Events grew very rapidly on the back of a contract to produce all Microsoft Europe’s conferences peaking at 25 staff and £12m turnover in 2001 when Mike sold the business to a major advertising agency and subsequently merged with HP:ICM and PCI to become PCI:Live. In 2005 Mike “retired” from the events business and after a lot of sleep has returned this year as Head of Live Events for Stage Electrics, one of the largest Audio Visual hire companies in the UK.
Intention Statement
I have a rekindled passion for the events industry and having returned at the end of a severe slowdown want to help clients, agencies and suppliers maximise the benefits of talking with one voice through a strong industry body, something I feel our important industry has lacked in the past. My experience of being first a client, then heading an agency and now leading a major supplier is I believe pretty unique and certainly gives me some interesting stories to tell!
