Clive Tyers

Clive Tyers is Head of Conferences and Events at the Bournemouth International Centre. He is a past Chair of BACD (2000) and has served on their Management Board as the elected South West Region representative for several years.

Joining the Conference, Exhibition and Live Events industry in 1994, Clive previously spent over 20 years in regional publishing, involved in Marketing , Readership Development and Event Sponsorship, mainly in the constantly changing area of Daily Newspapers.

In 2003, Clive was instrumental in setting up Bournemouth’s Conference Bureau, as a partnership between the local Council and Bournemouth’s leading hotels and event venues. The Bureau currently has 100+ members. In 2005, he oversaw the BIC’s £22 million expansion and redevelopment programme, which saw the centre increase in size with the addition of a 4th auditorium and an increased capacity in its largest performance hall to 7,000 pax.

Clive’s (limited) leisure time includes an active interest in Poole’s Championship winning Motorcycle Speedway team – the Pirates - whom he supports, with friends and family, every Wednesday evening.

Clive joins the Board as a result of the merger between the British Association of Conference Destinations and Eventia.
