Personal Statement:

I have been an active member of the board for the last eight years and an enthusiastic member of the Regulation and Technology Committees. I have also been involved in the work of the CSR Initiative and the Membership committees. With Sarah Webster, I redrafted the Association’s articles and rules to facilitate the effective management of the Association.

I was a member of the ITMA/CEA working party and an active proponent of the merger.

I have been a panellist and speaker at seminars for ITMA, Eventia and Confex.

I was a Parliamentary candidate at the 1997 General Election. I have tried to use my experience and connections in politics to the benefit of the association and have been instrumental in the appointment of the ITMA/Eventia Parliamentary adviser with whom I have worked closely to bring benefit to the association and its members. Together we have achieved acceptance by FSA and HM Treasury and made it possible for organiser members to continue to offer key insurance services for their clients’ events. This will be of direct benefit to members and their clients.

Regulation Committee has continued to make representations to government on a range of issues including the review of the Package Travel Regulations and ATOL reform.

I believe we have to be continually vigilant to anticipate and deal with the effects of changes in law and regulation which can affect our businesses.
