Business Tourism Leaders Present the National Meetings Challenge

Eventia hosted a top-level breakfast briefing on 16 October at London’s Cabinet War Rooms, to raise awareness amongst politicians and the wider public as to how the events industry sustains and supports Britain’s business community. It was attended by 50 business leaders and journalists.

Speaking at the Breakfast Briefing were: 

  • Rob Allen, Chairman, Eventia and Chief Executive, TRO 
  • Joss Croft, Head of Business Visits and Events, VisitBritain
  • Trevor Foley, Group Chief Executive Events Industry Alliance 
  • Kurt Janson, Policy Director of the Tourism Alliance
  • Martin Sirk, International Congress & Convention Association

The event’s moderator was Michael Hirst, OBE, Chairman Business Tourism Partnership.

At the Breakfast Briefing, a white paper was presented entitled National Meetings Challenge, How Should we Rise to it? The document offers recommendations to Government on how UK plc should be preparing to seize the business opportunities presented by the 2012 Olympics.
