John Walker

Managing Director, Oxford International

John Walker has over 35 years’ experience in the hotel, travel and event management industries. Canadian by birth, he started his career with Skyline Hotels in Toronto and Ottawa before assignments with Skyline in Jamaica, London and Panama. Back in hometown Toronto he worked in marketing with Wardair, developing a cruise programme for Canadian holiday makers in the Caribbean and Greek Islands. Returning to the UK, John set up a business travel agency in Oxfordshire before founding Oxford International in 1990 as a specialist conference, incentive and event agency.

 

John has guided Oxford’s ever-growing team of event management specialists, enjoying solid growth, particularly in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and financial services markets. Most recently, he set up a Conference Division to produce and market Oxford’s own B2B congresses and summits to industry professionals.  

 

John Walker regularly participates on industry advisory boards and is an elected board member of Eventia, heading the Association’s education committee. He is a member of Meeting Planners International (MPI) and sits on the Focus Group for the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) developing an event management guide for Procurement professionals in the UK.
