WiN-WiN Initative

Eventia are pleased to add their support to the Institute of Travel Management in promoting their WiN-WiN campaign as part of the ICARUS sustainability programme.

WiN-WiN or "Waste Not Want Not" builds on the principles of post-second world resourceful prudence - at a time when limiting the use of food and fuel was of paramount importance to the survival of the nation. We hope that those of you hosting meetings, events and conferences will adopt the WiN-WiN logo and principle and to communicate it to your event organisers. This is particularly relevant to events where attendance is not a business mandate. We estimate that in the travel, meetings and hospitality industry there are in excess of 10% no-shows at events which results in more than 10% waste of food. By encouraging WiN-WiN principles we can reduce this waste - and therefore costs to our industry and clients.

To promote Waste Not Want Not principles at your venue download and use this logo in your event literature.

By subscribing to WiN-WiN you are encouraging delegates at your events to:

  • Only commit to the event if there is real intention to attend
  • Advise you if there are parts of the event that delegates will not be able to attend - so the venue can cater accordingly
  • Advise as soon as possible if cancelling an event to allow for catering adjustments
  • Make it a priority to attend once booked.

WiN-WiN should also commit event organisers who have booked your venue, to:

  • Limiting the amount of food to those who have registered and not over catering
  • Providing leftover food to appropriate homeless charities where possible
  • Turning off lights and heating/AC in venues when rooms are not in use.
