Eventia Launches Corporate Responsibility Tools for the Industry

Eventia has launched an additional suite of on-line tools to assist the events industry with their corporate responsibility.

The tools are available through the sustainable events section on the Eventia website and include:

An overview of management systems and why we have them

  • A description of the BS8901:2009 standard and a downloadable guide to the key steps involved in implementing it.
  • An overview of IS0140001 – the Environmental Management System.
  • An overview of the Copenhagen Sustainable Meetings Protocol, together with the full pdf download
  • A look at the main differences between ISO14001 and BS8901
  • Information on what is accredited and non-accredited certification and benchmarking.

The Eventia corporate responsibility working party has created these tools to support members in their organisation of responsible, value-led live events.  This is with an aim to leaving a positive social impact on people and a minimal impact on the environment.  Over the last four years Eventia members have been provided with a hub of useful corporate responsibility resources on-line and a further section provides an overview of the legislation relevant to this industry.

Also launched is an on-line a guide for an organisation to create their own corporate responsibility code of conduct.  The guide covers which aspects to include and how to quantify & track progress of the creation of the code of conduct – and steps to making it meaningful across the four areas of environment, community, suppliers & marketplace and employees & the workplace.

Aileen Reuter, former Eventia board member with responsibility for the corporate responsibility working party and marketing director of Grass Roots comments: “We are pleased with the progress the working party has made this year in refreshing existing resources and adding some significant new ones.  The tools provided are both practical and accessible and will be of real benefit to the different types of members within the Eventia community.”

“Before handing over my role to incoming board member, Karen Rice from Banks Sadler, I am keen to complete one further useful tool that will be launched in August. Some time ago we asked the DMC members of Eventia to provide details of environmental, community and charity-based activities they could offer in their destinations, with an aim to providing agencies and corporates with inspirational ideas to incorporate in their programmes.  We’ve had around 40 submissions so far and will make them available through a user-friendly on-line database this coming month.  We aim to make this a vibrant resource with DMCs across the globe promoting corporate responsibility activities that generate a positive impact throughout the supply-chain.”
