In this vibrant regional capital you will find a city of contrasts - on one hand a thriving modern city and on the other an historic seafaring port - state of the art conference facilities contrasting with breathtaking historic houses. Plymouth is the conference centre with something for everyone, offering a 2,500 capacity and an enviable list of hotels to cater for all accommodation needs in the city and the surrounding countryside.
Conference Plymouth offers a selection of superb and diverse conference and meeting venues in one of the finest waterfront cities in the country. Standing on the border between Devon and Cornwall, Plymouth is a viable and attractive proposition for national, regional or local conferences, with direct access by road, train & air.
There are superb features and facilities in the city itself, and it is within easy reach of nationally and internationally acclaimed destinations and days out: Dartmoor, South Devon and Cornwall - on your doorstep.
During the last two years Plymouth has been the focus of a massive investment programme with a £200m state of the art shopping centre at its heart, and is emerging as a highly contemporary, dynamic young city.
In contrast, it still retains its historic past: the charming Barbican quarter, which straddles the original harbour and waterfront, has tiny cobbled lanes, old Elizabethan buildings and converted warehouses.
The city has much to offer beyond the working day and provides an exciting range of options for free time. There are numerous restaurants, bars and gastro pubs where fresh local produce is the order of the day. The main shopping area has broad pedestrianised streets and, of course, the city stands on the edge of Plymouth Sound, one of the greatest natural harbours in the world and a world-class venue for all water based activities from Formula 1 Powerboats to windsurfing and the Fastnet race. Plymouth Hoe is a great arena-like park above the Sound with fabulous sea views across the bay to Cornwall.
There are many and varied options for nearby excursions ranging from: a challenging day out on the moors, a relaxing visit to a stately property, a stroll around one of Cornwall’s subtropical gardens, a visit to one of South Devon’s bustling waterfront villages or historic towns.
