The team reached the quarter final stage of the competition.

Corporate, Association and Public Sector Members Dinner Clubs

Eventia is delighted to announce it will be holding an exclusive Dinner Club following the opening of a new membership category for Live Marketing professionals within corporate and public sector companies.  The Dinner Club will be a quarterly programme which will engage this area of the sector with what's going on in the industry.

Very soon, the association will launch a range of support services developed and delivered specifically to Live Marketing professionals within these types of companies.

The first evening to be held on 17th December will begin with revealing the foundations of the service and will then invite comments and feedback to help shape the final package. This is a great opportunity to find out what this new category of membership need and want, and also for them to understand the services that will soon be available.

UK Events Market Trends Survey 2009 and 2010

The UKEMTS, formerly known as the British Conference Venues Survey, is one of the key ways in which the value of the business events sector to the national economy is measured and provides a vital insight into the current state of the industry from a supply-side perspective. This report is available to purchase either visit www.eventia.org.uk, contact Sarah Malkin (sarah.malkin@eventia.org.uk) or telephone: tel: +44 (0) 121-212-1400 for more information and an order form. The cost of this report is £175.

Work on the UKEMTS 2010 survey is now starting - Tony Rogers (Conference & Event Services) has been contracted to project-manage this work on behalf of Eventia, with Richard Smith of TEAM again commissioned to undertake the data capture, analysis and report-writing. Tony will be writing shortly to all DMO and venue members of Eventia to seek your active participation and support in this project, with the aim of surpassing the record number of 512 reporting venues achieved in 2009.

A range of sponsorship opportunities will be available, from as little as £250 + VAT. Details of these from Tony Rogers and Sarah Malkin.

Please watch out for further details and give this vital project your full support.

The Return on Investment of US Business Travel

Tourism in a competitive World

Click here (you will need to log in) to view a copy of the long-awaited report by John Lewis on tourism that was launched at the Conservative Conference recently. While it must be emphasised that this is NOT the Conservative’s Tourism Strategy, it does give a pretty good indication of where their thinking is going. The Conservative’s idea will be to put this independent report into the public arena, judge the reaction and accept/decline the recommendations accordingly in their Tourism Strategy which will probably come out late this year/early next year.

The emphasis is on putting greater effort and emphasis on tourism within DCMS and Government and gaining greater effectiveness and efficiency with existing public funding by removing duplication and increasing co-ordination in the public agencies and NDPBs.

Interestingly, – aviation issues like APD and airport expansion are not mentioned in the report indicating a clash between tourism and central party policies.
