Eventia develops standard T&Cs

After more than 12 months of painstaking work, Eventia's Regulation Committee has produced a new template for Standard Terms and Conditions for contracts between agencies and corporate clients. The template addresses the key issues for inclusion in contracts including:

  • The obligations of each party
  • Payment profiles
  • Cancellation charges
  • Liability
  • Risk assessment
  • Insurance

The terms aim to strike a fair balance between the rights and obligations of agency and client. They are drafted to suit a wide range of agencies and include an optional section for use on travel-inclusive programmes, particularly those affected by The Package Travel Regulations.

Brian Kirsch, Chair of Eventia's Regulation Committee, said: "This has been a bigger task than we ever thought it would be. To be effective, the terms need to deal with the main contractual issues and must work for agencies organising events ranging from local meetings to overseas incentives, which has meant creating a template in modular form. The next stage is to consult with a cross-section of Eventia members before we launch what we intend to promote as a standard of good practice governing the relationship between agencies and their corporate clients."
