The Engagement Journey
Hamish Pringle, Director General of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising opens the conference with his views on where events sit within the overall media and marketing mix and how events professionals can improve the effectiveness of face-to-face activity via increased engagement at specific points throughout events-based strategies.     

10.15-11.00
Digital Development for Enhanced Engagement
Cisco’s Live Global Marketing Manager Staci Clark teams up with Active Network’s Global Strategic Director Anthony Miller to detail the digital landscape and how events businesses can attract new audiences and strengthen relationships with existing delegates via a choice of new media channels. This keynote will be followed by specific workshops on social media, mobile and virtual so that delegates can gain practical advice after being inspired by this new world view.

Social Media: 360 Creative Event Services’ Simon Burton discusses best practice when amplifying messaging across chosen social media channels. 
Mobile Marketing:   Eric Olson, General Manager at Active Network Events division explores the opportunities of mobile marketing, how mobile is evolving to provide faster data and advanced content and why implementing a mobile strategy is vital for business success.
Virtual: What is the current state of the Virtual meetings market? How are clients using the virtual events channel? And what are the challenges, still to be overcome? Crystal Interactive director Chris Elmitt and DRP Group managing director Dale Parmenter discuss the future of virtual and share their experience of working with this channel.

Conference Moderator Chris Elmitt interviews trade body representatives from the PCMA, MPI and SITE on the health of the events sector overseas. Deborah Sexton (PCMA) (video link), Didier Scaillet (MPI) and Paul Miller (SITE) will share economic impact study data, discuss the impact of global events such as the Japanese earthquake and forecast future trends and influencers.

Stephen Vaughan, Managing Director of Thomas Cook's London 2012 Partnership will head up a panel, which also comprises Ben Atherton, London 2012 Programme Manager for Cisco. Also answering questions on brand activity around the forthcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games will be Nick Grandvoinet – VP Sales EMEA,  InterContinental Hotel Group - official hotel provider to London 2012 and Steve Girdler, director of London 2012 Partnership for Adecco. Conference Moderator Chris Elmitt steps aside to allow our opinionated panel of professionals each a two minute soapbox on the issues of pitching and buying event services. He will then open it up to the floor so delegates have the unique chance to argue, agree or question panelists including First Protocol's Mark Riches, Richard Foulkes from Imagination, Zibrant’s Head of Procurement Gareth Crowder and Dana Lewis, director of MICE and Leisure at Accor Hospitality.

How can WE enable Corporates to Buy Events Better?: Inntel's Managing Director, Douglas O'Neill and the HBAA’s Executive Director, Peter Ducker cover the ITM-CIPS Meeting Tool Kit, published in 3 parts. An overview of Part 1 will cover Initial Engagement whilst Part 2 covers MICE Technology & Cost Models. An active Workshop session to facilitate ideas on Part 3 – How Corporates can buy Events better will then follow. This will be an interactive session geared towards improving the way our industry operates in a respectful and collaborative manner.
