What is the UK Events Market Trends Survey?

For the past 17 years, estimates for the size and value of the UK’s conference and business events sector have been based on annual research undertaken among meeting and event venues countrywide. Now known as the ‘UKEMTS’, work on the 2011 research commenced in February and is available now to purchase.

Aims of the Survey

The United Kingdom Events Market Trends Survey seeks to:

  • Measure the key characteristics of the UK conference and events market from a venue perspective
  • Provide the best possible estimates for volume and value aspects of the market, and identify key and emerging trends.

The report is divided into four sections:

  • Section 1 focuses on the objectives, methodology and sample of the survey
  • Section 2 highlights the volume and estimated value of the events market
  • Section 3 provides an overview of the characteristics of the events market from the venues’ perspective 
  • Section 4 looks at  turnover, marketing, buyers’ priorities and procurement 

In addition, Appendix 1 provides a more detailed breakdown of results by venue type and location.
