Eventia CEO to stand down but remain as Industry Ambassador

Izania Downie, CEO of Eventia has today announced her decision to stand down from her position in order to focus on other challenges.

Izania moved to a part time role over 12 months ago in order to take up consultancy and other related activities. This decision is a step change on from that allowing her to consider a wider range of future opportunities. 

She comments 'It's been a great 5 years with Eventia serving on the board and as CEO, it has been both a challenging and rewarding experience.  We've gone through a lot of change over the past 4 years with our mergers and growth but there is now an excellent management team headed up by Tracy Johnson in Birmingham and a strong board in place to drive the direction of the association forward so I feel confident that I'm leaving the association with a solid foundation from which to continue their good work and growth. There is widespread support for the future development of the association as recently demonstrated by the creation of the Strategic Advisory council and now the Ambassador Programme, which will see leading industry figures inputting into the direction of the association and providing support to the board.  I’m delighted to be joining the Ambassador Programme thereby continuing my involvement with the association albeit on a voluntary basis. It's an exciting time for Eventia as the industry further responds to the rapidly changing environment and current challenges we face. Membership is strong and we are finding more companies are wanting to be a part of the association.' 

Mark Saxby, Chairman said 'Izania has done an outstanding job for the association and has undoubtedly become an industry icon in the process. She has shown tremendous commitment, passion and enthusiasm and given a great deal of time and effort in shaping the organisation. She has overseen significant changes and achieved a great deal during her time in office. Not least, she has created a tremendous legacy by way of the management team who are well versed in the day to day management requirements of the association. We have a very committed Board, an Exec Team comprising myself and two former Chairmen in Rob Allen and Mark Taylor and now we also have the Ambassadors.’ Saxby went on to say, ‘We are already discussing working with Izania on specific projects on a consultancy basis although this will depend on which opportunities she decides to take up. Either way, we are very fortunate in that we will be benefitting from her input as an Ambassador which is something from a personal perspective that I will very much value.’
