Eventia blasts the winter blues away at Abbey Road Studios

Over 120 events industry professionals joined together at the Eventia winter networking evening at Abbey Road Studios on Friday 28th January 2011.

The event in conjunction with the Canadian Tourism Commission commenced with an Eventia HOW TO session on exhibiting and converting leads lead by International Confex and Write Style Communications.  The networking fun was launched by an outstanding acoustics-testing performance from singer Amelia Knight (courtesy of Eventia member Young Guns) singing the haunting ‘Bring me to life’ by Evanescence.

Guests were then invited to ‘sing for their supper’ and in groups, led by an experienced vocal coach and producer, participated in singing and recording ‘With a little help from my friends’ in the very studio where it was originally recorded by the Beatles.  Guests were photographed on a green-screen background to re-create the famous Abbey Road album cover and will receive their own copy of the collaborative CD.

Presiding over the evening’s entertainment Eventia Vice Chair, Rob Allen, CEO of TRO commented ‘What an outstanding evening in a unique space steeped in musical history.  It has been a truly collaborative event sponsored by our annual marketing partners The Canadian Tourism Commission and supported by Eventia members, Table Art, DRP Group and Smyle.   A combination of good education with an excellent opportunity for the industry to come together is always motivating as is the opportunity to network and have really great fun too.’

Eventia’s annual marketing partner, the Canadian Tourism Commission were main sponsors of the event, Susan Frei, CTC’s Director of International Meetings and Incentives commented, ‘We are delighted to be marketing partners with Eventia, it’s a great org to be involved with.  Abbey Road Studios was a perfect venue choice for us, having welcomed so many international artists, including many of our own Canadian artists, for example, Bryan Adams, Shania Twain and Michael Bublé.  This has been a great platform for us to meet with leaders of the industry and to share with them some true Canadian hospitality.’
