Stephan’s early career was spent with Air France’s management team with responsibility for chartering special Concorde flights for top corporate events. This was followed by a 3-year stint from 1989 as Director of Sales for the 5-star Chateau de la Messardière in Saint Tropez. From here he became Senior Sales Manager at the state-of-the-art Normandy Congress Centre in Deauville, and also worked for KPMG as a trade consultant.

In 1995 Stephan joined the world-renowned Groupe Lucien Barrière, initially as Director of Sales in La Baule and subsequently as the Group’s Director of Sales UK & Ireland, responsible for 13 luxury hotels and 40 casinos, and achieving 15 per cent revenue growth year on year.

In 2007 Monaco opened a Consulate General in the UK together with a Tourist Office and Convention Bureau. Stephan was appointed Managing Director of this new project where he recruited a new team to represent the destination in the UK & Ireland. He is in charge of Marketing, Press, Leisure, and Meeting & Incentive business.

Stephan comments: “With over 20 years of working in such a dynamic and evolving industry, I feel my skills and experience will contribute to Eventia and to the events sector as a whole gaining a higher profile across the wider business community. Eventia is an association for Event Organisers and I would like to play my part in developing new audiences and relationships e.g. with corporate buyers, suppliers, and with all those involved in the meetings and incentive industry. It is a time of change, to share ideas and inspire members of the industry. With my enthusiasm and dedication to any challenge, I believe that, if I am elected to the Eventia Board, this will help to open the association to a wider public, not only in the UK but also in increasing recognition of Eventia as one of the leading associations in Europe. Market research, the application of quality management tools, enhanced networking and the development of a more representative Awards event are all areas in which I would like to play a part. Together we can demonstrate how valuable our sector is for the UK economy and internationally.”
