Eventia backs 2010 Shine Awards for Female Talent in Travel Tourism and Hospitality

Shine Awards, London 7 December 2010 - Eventia, the voice for the events and live marketing industry, is delighted to announce its involvement with the Shine Awards for Female Talent in Travel Tourism and Hospitality 2010, organised by Shine People and Places, a specialist learning and development consultancy with a focus on travel tourism and hospitality. Eventia will support the Awards with calls for nominations and also by providing a judge for the event.

Commenting on the collaboration with Shine, Izania Downie, CEO said:
' Development of talent, professionalism and the contribution women make to the event industry are areas of crucial importance to the industry and core to Eventia's own mission of raising professional standards. We are therefore delighted to support the Shine Awards, the only awards of this kind for UK events' professionals'.

Leigh Jagger, Eventia Board Director and CEO of leading company Banks Sadler, who will judge the Awards added: 'This industry has plenty of talented individuals, and particularly females, who do not get the opportunity to showcase their achievements. I encourage all of you to submit a nomination on-line for one or more of the ten awards categories for your chance to shine!'

Previous winner, Jacqui Kavanagh, MD, Trinity Conferences further added: 'Winning the Shine Awards opened doors for me especially with tenders where recognition for achievements within the industry demonstrate good business practice and business strategy. I had to set up my second company since winning the award and it has helped me personally to have a high profile in the industry and as a result we are now into our 4th year of business progressing well. '

Alessandra Alonso of Shine commented: 'We are delighted that Eventia has agreed to become an industry partner and support the nomination process. Previous finalists and winners from the event industry have included high caliber individuals such as Lynn Westbury formerly director of the Foresight Centre Liverpool and Vanessa Cotton formerly MD of Conference and Events at Excel. We hope that through Eventia's involvement many more professionals will want to submit a nomination and share their successes with the rest of the industry'.
