The Eventia Corporate Responsibility working party is delighted to announce the addition of two new members to the group: Susannah Sheffield, Senior Account Manager at events agency Oxford International and Simon Jones, HR/CSR at skilled crew provider Gallowglass.
Susannah says: “While social and environmental issues have always been high on my personal agenda, in a busy office it can get pushed to the back of our minds. However, I am well aware of the social and environmental impact of Event Management; an industry that clocks up thousands of air miles, consumes a vast amount of power and destroys many trees worth of welcome letters, agendas and handouts. As CSR representative at Oxford International and now Eventia Corporate Responsibility working party member I am keen to work towards minimising the impact.”
The working party now has 10 members from Eventia including venues, hotels and Hugo Kimber from the Carbon Consultancy as well as event agencies. If any additional Eventia members would like to join the committee, please contact Aileen Reuter, Head of Eventia Corporate Responsibility Working Party and Marketing Director of Grass Roots.
Simon comments: “As the only crewing company on the working party I felt we could bring another dimension to discussions and am eager to have input into the way corporate responsibility is tackled in the industry. As my role includes overseeing all CSR and Sustainability issues at Gallowglass, I am keen to learn more about the issues involved and becoming a member of the working party seemed the perfect way to combine these objectives.”
The committee also bids a fond ‘au revoir’ not ‘adieu’ to Melanie Delaplanche of First Protocol who is on maternity leave until next year. Chief Executive Richard Waddington will be taking her place for the next few months.
